Ruth looked toward the window.

“She was afraid your grandmother would love me more.”

June’s face softened.

“She was jealous.”

June laughed through her tears.

“I’ve kept this for thirty years.”

She handed it to June.

June opened it.

Inside were letters.

Some were addressed to her grandmother.

Some to Grandpa.

And some to June.

June picked one up.
