My Husband Told Me Our Newborn Daughter Had Died—Then My 8-Year-Old Son Whispered, “Mommy, She’s Not Gone”

“I noticed discrepancies.”

“Then why didn’t you report them?”

“I did.”

He explained that the neonatal admission information he’d seen earlier was no longer visible in the system.

There were also inconsistencies in the delivery documentation.

“How could that happen?” I asked.

“That’s what I wanted to understand.”

“Who changed the records?”

“I wasn’t able to identify the person.”

“Could the hospital investigate?”

“Yes.”

“And did they?”

“I submitted a formal concern. Later, I received a notice stating the matter had been reviewed and no irregularities were found.”

He paused.

“That same week, I learned my contract wouldn’t be renewed.”
