My Husband Blamed Me for Giving Him Two Daughters and Said I Had Failed Him—Then a Hospital X-Ray Exposed What He Had Been Hiding

I looked at him.

“And?”

“It shouldn’t still be causing this much pain.”

“But there’s something else.”

“What?”

The doctor took a breath.

“There appears to be evidence of an old surgical procedure.”

I frowned.

“I’ve never had surgery.”

The doctor looked at the X-ray again.

“Are you certain?”

“Yes.”

He studied the image.

Then his expression changed.

“This isn’t surgical hardware.”

“What is it?”

He enlarged the image on the monitor.

I stared.

There was something inside me.

Something small.

Something metallic.

My stomach dropped.

“What is that?”

The doctor didn’t answer immediately.

Then he said:

“We need another scan.”
